An introduction
Beachaven was built in 1979, set quietly behind a hedge a few steps off Midnight Pass Road. Twenty villas around a heated pool and a Roman-style courtyard. Two minutes on foot to the Gulf.
It has been refurbished, room by room, over the last decade — but the bones, the trees, the angle of the afternoon light, and the families who have been coming back to it since the eighties have not changed.
If you are looking for an oceanfront megaresort, this is not it. If you are looking for the place your family quietly chooses, year after year, this may be it.

The location
Siesta Key Beach has held the No. 1 ranking from Dr. Beach more times than any other beach in the United States. The sand is 99% pure quartz, so it stays cool underfoot at noon. The water is the same impossible turquoise as the postcards. The village, a short walk in the other direction, is unhurried and good.
From the guestbook
We've been to Maui, Greece, the Maldives. We come back to Beachaven because Ania remembers our daughter's name.
Unit 21 has the best afternoon light I have ever sat in. I write better there than I write at home.
The grandkids called it the "castle pool" and refused to leave. We finally booked the same week next year.
